Silver Hand Meadery: Small Business of the Week
Silver Hand Meadery is our #SmallBusinessOfTheWeek, and we’ve got some excited news to share! Having opened back in 2015, Silver Hand introduced one of the oldest beverages to the history-rich area of Williamsburg. Often referred to as honey wine, mead is the world’s most ancient fermented beverage. Created by fermenting sugars found in honey with a fruits and spices, mead has the creativity of craft beer and the elegance of wine. Not only does Silver Hand offer a wide variety of flavors, but they also host educational honey tastings!
On March 14th, they’ll be bringing back a Lavender Lemon Whipped Honey flavor, with local lavender from Sweethaven Lavender of Williamsburg! in Williamsburg! They'll also release a margarita-inspired mead on April 23rd called Margaritaville.
Silver Hand Meadery just won SIX gold medals at the 2021 Virginia Governor’s Cup wine competition! This means they scored 90 or higher in one of the most thorough wine competitions in the nation. The gold medal recipients are their Strawberry Swing, Raspberry Passion, Soak up the Sun, All Blues, Dream by the Fire, and Black Velvet. Glenn Lavender, Sam Straight, and the Silver Hand team are well-deserving of this recognition, and we are so proud to call them members!
